CONFESSIONAL - the required veterinary clearance was received. Trailed the field throughout and was retired from the event near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards spoke with trainer/driver A Clark regarding the tactics he adopted during the race. After hearing the explanation of Mr Clark Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry to give the matter further consideration. The gelding was stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming due to an unsatisfactory performance. Mr Clark advised Stewards it was his intention to spell CONFESSIONAL following today's run.

MAUI - driver D McCormick admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McCormick's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 11 October up to and including 18 October 2026 (3 days).

GEORGE ELIOT - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1000m after GEORGE ELIOT raced wider on the track when PORT PEGASUS shifted ground outwards. After viewing the replays it was established that driver J Morrison (PORT PEGASUS) had commenced his outwards movement prior to GEORGE ELIOT reaching his sulky wheel and accordingly Stewards took the matter no further.
